Where Am I Going, Where Have I Been, Where Am I Right Now...Are Those My Feet?
August 3, 2012, 12:03pm
I used to blog all the time, like it was my job, and here's the funny thing — I had very little going on at the time. I worked at a bike shop and raced my bike on the weekends. My life was boring and relatively uneventful, and yet, somehow, I had plenty to say. Then there's my life now. I'm off covering cycling events all over the country most every weekend, I'm riding crazy new places, meeting crazy new people, getting blown up with crazy firecrackers...and I have no time to tell you guys about it. The videos provide some evidence as to...

Why just seven questions? Why...why not eleven questions? There's simply no time, because BigBikes is on its way to Breckenridge for the Breck 100 this Sunday — stopped at a horrible service plaza in western upstate New York right now, on to Cleveland in a bit, maybe Lincoln, Nebraska tomorrow, and Breckenridge by Saturday afternoon at the lastest. It's pretty screwed up when you punch your destination into your GPS and it gives you the time in days. Breckenridge is 1 day 3 hours away at the moment. Ever seen Vanishi...

EFTA NECS #4 All Out In Moody Park the short version... Former Semi-Pro Nationals winner Dan Vaillancourt came off the couch to win yet another regional Elite race. It's what he does. It doesn't matter who's there, how much dope they're on, or how many Strava Koms they've crushed — Dan will take all comers. Bradford Perley did give him a ride for his money ("run for the money" is the saying, I know, but running is STUPID). Brad "Lobster" Perley has been down at Lees-McRae in North Carolina getting mega-strong for a few years now. When he...
Photo cred: Dylan Lee Race report: Barry Wicks won the men's race, Amanda Carey won the women's race, Hal Batdorf won the singlespeed's race, and Ron Sanborn won the Master's race. This is Cyclingdirt, not Cycling-something else, if you want the real story, WATCH THE INTERVIEWS kids! That snarked, it was one of the most exciting NUE races I have witnessed. There are a handful of guys who are just so bad ass at riding hundred milers right now, and then you throw in an unknown quantity like Barry Wicks and wow...knock down drag out fi...

Lumberjack 100 News: Something Wicknasty This Way Comes, Tick-Bitten Pfluginators, and Drew Edsalls
June 13, 2012, 10:43am
When I wrote up the Lumberjack 100 preview a few days ago I was remiss...I re-missed a whole lot of stuff. Well, three things anyway: Barry Wicks is registered Drew Edsall, winner of NUE #2 Sylammo's Revenge is registered and 3. Gerry Pflug was attacked by a tick in Arkansas and will not be coming That's some pretty important stuff. Gerry Pflug was a mess at the Mohican. He came through the first aid sation in good position and then was nowhere to be found by the time I got over to aid station three. After the race he vanished an...
Lumberjack 100 Coverage, coming Saturday June 16th. Yesterday I got a frantic message from triathlete-turned-potential-hundred-miler-winner Kevin Carter. He wanted to know how much of an advantage an aero helmet and deep section carbon wheels would give him at the Lumberjack 100. "Are my Zipp 1080s going to be overkill for this thing?" I assured him that his 1080s would be fine and that an aero helmet would give him a huge freakin' advantage on this fast and buff and buff and fast course. The Lumberjack is the easiest hundred ...
